I left the hotel for two days to take a tour and did not realize until some hours later I had paid my bill but was not given the passport. The error is also mine, but my experience is that hotel staff need to provide the passport upon checkout. No hot water the final morning. Fortunately I had showered the previous evening. - When we arrived at hotel standart room not ready.But it was 8am. They had a deluxe room ready and we changed and we were happy we did.Standard room a little small but for the price would have been fine.We took a different tour every day booked at front desk.All the tours we booked were good.The hotel staff went out of trere way to make sure we had a good vacation.If i went back to Hanoi would stay at Hanoi Silver Hotel Again.Excellent value.

- If u are looking for a place to stay in Hanoi i would like to recommend Hanoi Silver Hotel with following reasons: 1.The great position, close to the lake and old quarter.It's smaller street, but I'm sure the taxi can drop you in front of the hotel,I never have to walk with the baggage to the hotel. 2.Hotel decor is warm and family. Room is very clean, it's better to book the room with window. 3.Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Tour operator is great. 4.Tivi has multiple international channels as well Vietnamese channels. With reasonable price and good service Hanoi Silver hotel is a good choice for us stay in
- we stay there for one night and also our washing as well staff not that helpful. We give them our cloth to wash when we arrive they advise we get back by night time.. But they didn't arrive, so we advise them we need it by tomorrow morning as we departing. we didn't get it until last min we have to check out and re pack again and rush to airport. Hotel itself was very small good for backpacker. Breakfast not much option.
7. Pleasant, friendly hotel in a great location in this chaotic, bustling city. Modern, decent size rooms with TV and fridge. Could easily walk to the lake and various attractions, including the Water Puppet Theatre. Lots of reataurants, street vendors and night market in the immediate vicinity. Good value for the money. I would definitely stay there again.
- Liked — Good location, 5 minutes walk from the lake. Lots of restaurants and shops in the area. Friendly, helpful staff, even though their English was limited. Small but sufficient buffet breakfast with choice of Western or Vietnamese food. The hotel will book tours for you without ripping you off. Disliked — Free internet but only 2 computers which did not always work properly. One of them kept giving the anti-virus \"not up to date\" message. Tips/Secrets — I recommend going to the Water Puppet Theatre. It's very different from other puppet shows and is quite amusing. There are 2 or 3 shows daily but it gets booked up fairly quickly. *very clean - the place has been *totally refurbished since its previous incarnation as Van Minh Hotel. has only been open since Jan 09 so everything is NEW
* Michael at recepation has good English and is very helpful. Other staff have varying English ability ranging from some to none
*If you dont mind a bit of street noice go for a room at the front with a balcony. If you prefer quiet, the back rooms are OK but smaller - some have windows but no view to speak of
* Not too pushy when it comes to selling tours
* Great location on Hang Bac St
* Has lift so you dont have to do the stair thing

Check in was fast and efficient and breakfast was amazing, each morning was a new experience, We mentioned a fruit we liked and sure enough the next morning it was on the menu. The last day there I left my medication in the room, had got to the station and boarded the train and realised my error, rang them and within 7 minutes my medication was delivered to the train, with only 2 minutes to spare. Tours were booked with the help of the efficient reception staff, even printing out a recipe for fresh spring rolls and sauce when we asked.

They organised a few things for me ,including ,personally taking me to the water puppet theatre to buy tickets and to the shops. I recommend this hotel as you will really be looked after well.
